On May 6th, 2022, while working to prepare an area in Calaveras Big Trees State Park for a prescribed fire, Firestorm Wildland Firefighter, Darin Banks was struck by a falling tree. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Darin’s crew members, co-workers, and family, with support from many fire service and law enforcement agencies, provided an escort for Darin’s final journey from the Central Sierra back to his family home in Red Bluff. The gallery below follows their route.
